Which Ball to get?
« on: December 23, 2006, 02:52:25 PM »
So right now the only ball I am carrying is an old Super Beast.  On my friday night league the ball is perfect for the down and in shot I have to play.  However on my Monday night, it doesn't quite cut it.....

What I am looking for is a ball that I can really open up the lanes with.  My Monday night league primarily puts down your basic THS.

I have been reading reviews on the Action Max, Wrath, and Apogee.  I have found that typically a good polished ball will open up the lanes for you on an easy shot.

I had the Action and Action Packed, and really never had much success with either piece. I will admit I didn't give the AP much of a chance, as I was in the BLAME the ball stage at that time

I see that the Action Max comes polished according to bowlingball.com, the Apogee is a Matte Finish, and the Wrath is also polished.

I'm almost thinking the Wrath might work well for me, but if the Action Max isn't too strong to where it will burn out on me, that could work too.

I couldn't throw my Action at all on Monday nights due to it burning up and never hooking.

Anyways...if you have one of these, is it a ball I can swing, and find some area with?  Or is there another Columbia or really any brand ball that would be better for this?

Thank You in Advance!

I'd go with the Apogee just because it is a pretty good benchmark ball. It will cut through carrydown and give you some room.

I believe the Apogee is polished and the Action Max is matte. The Apogee would push more down the lane.

The Apogee is the polished one. Any of those choice is a much stronger ball than you have now, I would say that the Action Max is the most agressive, where the Apogee ( being asymetrical) will give you the look of the stronger ball.

Not seeing you bowl would be hard to make a judgement call. I love all three balls, but I have to say the first ball out of my bag is the Action Max.

I agree the action max comes matte and the apogee comes polished. The max is also the stronger ball trhoughout the lane but because of the apogee bein asymetrical it will have a stronger reaction off its breakpoint. The apogee is a great ball, I would say eather the apogee or the wrath. Eather one are just awsome and very under rated.

Well the Action Max will handle heavy, but I think you'd be better off with an Apogee.

Yea I think I'd be better off looking towards the Wrath or the Apogee.  I think I know who to talk to about this

Thanks everyone!
