It would be nice if the author of a post could block a troll(or trolls) from ruining legitimate topics with their non-sense. It could work in concert with the ignore function, that would make it easy to implement on the server side as well as for the users to manage.
-
While on the face of it, it might be a good idea. (Users moderating their own threads)
There would come a point when it would be abused. With users blocking others that may have legitimate but differing views to their own they don't like.
Which would defeat the open discussion of ideas the forums should provide.
Then most likely you'd start having multiple competing threads on the same subject springing up.
That's why they needed more active moderators.

I miss Geico spare balls on TV..... ??? :o ::) :P

You could make it to where a user could mod his own thread if his post count is over a certain amount. No noobs allowed.
-
You are are correct and I considered that before posting. This idea is targeted mostly at a couple of individuals.
But it would start "clicks" within the site, which would quickly devolve into exactly what you mentioned.
Still, there should be someway to prevent it without the need for babysitters. ;D

I welcome the noobs, it's just a couple of the "regulars" who are a real buzz kill. 8)

Well, if someone's post count starts jumping thru the roof, and users report them as a troll, that's good enough proof.
-
Now they could easily setup a private forum, that only users that have gained a certain usergroup level by either post count or reputation could post to or that would require a password to access.
-
If it went by reputation, jls and LGD would never be allowed to post. Post count is the only way that's fair.

It would knock one of them out, that's for sure. ;D

Would not break my heart to see one if the two gone.

How would post count be fair? If you can't post then your post count can't increase. If all the senior guys and gals move because they don't like the "noobs" then information and ideas won't be shared and ignorance will remain. Just ignore the trolls because obviously they have nothing better to do. If internet trolls annoy you that much then maybe you shouldn't post anything anywhere online.
-
Well, if you're not a troll, then the op shouldn't have a reason to block you from the post.

A lot of people are overly sensitive on the internet. Some people think just because you don't agree with them that you are a troll. Trolls are usually looking for a fight or looking to provoke you into some kind of action. Why give them the pleasure? Just ignore them and let them be trolls because obviously nothing in their lives are more important than what someone else is doing.

OP is too overly sensitive I've been on BR.com longer than most and don't post a lot and ignore the basic trolls. Ignore move on.

I stopped going on the unmoderated boards cuz of stuff like..
It
Got
Old
Real
Quick...
and that's why were all screwed....
Just block who you you need to block Milo!

I don't go to the unmoderated forum anymore either. I just thought it would be cool to have conversations without the same idiots injecting their BS. Sure I can(and do) ignore them when they do their crap, but that is still having to put up with them. It's just another form of it.

Problem with that is most of the perpetrators who decry the state of the forum are in the forum daily doing the very thing they complain about. Some find "internet religion" so to speak and walk away but we are still stuck the with ones that don't. Unless one wants to walk away themself, ignore and move on is the rule of the day as stated earlier. Either that or moderate it again.
