1 Ball 2 Surfaces
« on: October 08, 2008, 05:56:35 AM »
Has anyone had any luck with purchasing 2 of the same ball, drilling them the same and simply having 2 surfaces on them for different conditions?

Thanks,

Mike

Clint Daley was the master of that.  He had entire arsenals built around a single ball with different layouts and surfaces.  I think there was a Rule GP2 arsenal that covered everything from floods (the GP2's typical use) all the way down to light oil.  Different pin and MB placements, a dozen different surface preps.  He did another set a year later with Robo Rules, again covering everything from heavy oil down to light oil.

When surface is 70% of ball reaction, you can do a lot with two of the same ball with different surfaces on each.

Know several who have done that with the Gravity Shift. Keep one polished and the other sanded to a lower grit and cover all but the extremes.

I did it with the old Track Code Red and then again with the GP2 like Clint. It was awesome.

I just buy different balls with the same weight block and coverstock, but the different balls have different sanding and polishing. So instead of having 2 gravity shifts with different covers, I have an attitude shift and a gravity shift.
