Abralon & particle coverstocks

I have asked several people about this, but have never gotten a for sure answer from anyone. Will abralon cut the particles or just the resin around the particles & leave the particles protruding. Is it safe to use the abralon pads instead of the scotchbrite pads? Thanks in advance if you know the answer.

How do you think Ebonite prepares their particle covers? Abralon is quite safe.

Just wanted to make sure because I thought it was comparable to sandpaper. I really have no idea about what ebonite uses, but thanks for the info.

Ebonite uses Abralon. It's good stuff. The grit consistency is better than  sandpaper or scotch-brite, and much more durable.

Different particles are different.  Some older, softer particles could be worn smooth with the wrong abrasive pad and left alone by other types of abrasives.  Others were unaffected by anything but trizact.  I think most particles nowadays can be sanded with sandpaper, abralon, or scotchbrite.

It might be a good idea to contact the manufacturer to see what they recommend for a specific ball.

Early this year, I was having a problem with a Brunswick ball that had particle in the cover. I E-mailed Tom Tomaras of Brunswick  with my problem and he said to use sandpaper or scotch brite either one on Brunswick balls, that it won't hurt the particles.

BrunsRicH would be a good person to check with to see if that is true or not.

when i was at the greater omaha classic last month i asked rick benoit, the ball rep for brunswick, this question. he informed me i could you whatever was handy----sandpaper, scotch-brite pads, trizact pads, or abralon pads.

Thanks a lot guys. I've been using the various grits of abralon for quite a while now, but I just wasn't certain if it was ok on particle balls.
