soaking ball
« on: November 06, 2005, 10:52:32 AM »
How hot do you make the water and do you cover the entire ball with water? Do you cover the holes with tape so water doesn't get in? Or is there a better way of getting the oil out of the ball wo/a resurface?explain

Thanks... I have never tried this before..

I thought if water got into the ball by finger holes into the core, that it could damage the ball. Is that a myth or a fact? something id like to get cleared up. if its a myth, then i have 2 balls that i need to clean up!! How long should the ball sit in the hot water??

BrunswickBowler -- If you're afraid of water damage (not taking a stand on this issue one way or the other), place the ball in the vessel you're going to use with the grip up.  Then fill to a level that does not reach the gripping holes.  You'll still get cleaning on the important areas -- where the ball rolls.  If your equipment has balance holes, this won't help.  --  JohnP

Okay, im willing to do that over completely submerging the ball in water. Ive heard some horror stories about the coverstock cracking the 1st time you leave the ball  out in the cold or the core seperating from the cover 6 months later. Just wanted to verify that.
