Yep, next to the sliding glass door anyway, works great as long as you turn/wipe it down and don't let it get to hot. Can't just set it out in the sun and forget it ! You'll be surprised what can happen. Did that with an old 'junk' ball just to see. It's a great door stop, now.

Well, I'm no expert but figured I'd throw in my two cents...as for GREG HOPPE, I do not see any reason to avoid sunlight. After that you have two options...radiant heat or hot water, I have tried hot water but cannot tell you what kind of results I get because...well I really don't get any noticeable results, that and it will often times change the color of your ball (which is reversible but kind of a pain in the @$$).

My personal favorite is to leave it in my car..monitored of course...and then every few minutes wipe it off with a towel and some cleaner, wash rinse repeat until your happy. If your worried about cracking then know what does it, temperature CHANGE (this is of course for the type of cracking you would run into in this application), so if it makes you feel better then leave your piece out of your bag, in a warm room or in even in the sun for awhile then put it out there and watch sweat like a fat guy in one of those gerbil wheels

O__O wow...a little more then I meant but hey what can I say

so, you see no reason to avoid direct sunlight. i see. so direct sunlight on a hot summer day will not damage the ball in any way. good luck.

I'm not sure about the sunlight method as the plastics and resins used in today's bowling balls are probably not UV stabilized. UV-B is one of the main culprits in plastic degradation due to "weathering", or UV exposure.

At the least, you may experience some color fading, at worst you may detroy the polymer chains and make the surface of the ball very brittle.

This link has more info.:

Hope this helps.

The clothes dryer could work. set the sucker on tumble dry with a few of those fabric softener thingies and maybe a few towels to absorb the goo and cushion the cement mixer type beating.

This method might work if you have a shoe rack attachment for drying shoes or other items in your dryer. You'd just have to make sure that the drying air temp wasn't too high (say, more than 140 deg. Far. ?!).

I used to leave my balls out in the garage during the summer to sweat them. It works great but it can ruin a bag if you just leave it in a bag. Hair dryers work great. Not too uniform though. I just tried my variation on a hot water bath. I filled my kitchen sink with hot water and dawn and had added hot water flowing over the top of the ball that stuck out. I am sold. I am going to go do it on another ball.
