altering the coverstock

Could any one tell me the proper procedure of sanding the coverstock without a spinner?  I have only dropped it to my pro shop and never done it myself.  Someone here mentioned the wet sand.  Is it necessary?  Should I wet the ball or the Scotch pad?

I would never try to change the coverstock (make it duller or a resurface) with out a spinner.  It will be uneven and eventually develop flat spots.

Honestly, there is NO proper method without a spinner.

Sanding does require wet/dry sandpaper and water 99.999% of the time.

If you are thinking of sanding once, you are probably dedicated to bowling enough to think of polishing. Then you need a spinner; they are cheaper than they have ever been, some as little as $179, the price of one premium ball and are worth their weight in GOLD!
