X factor Deuce help!

My friend has an X-factor Deuce.Someone told him to clean it with  Acetone.He gets barely any reaction from it.I told him that I heard Acetone will kill the ball.He asked me if I knew a way to restore the tackiness and get the cover clean again.Does he have to resurface the ball? Do you think if he cleaned it with Clean and Dull or some other cleaner would get his reaction back.Should the ball be scuffed with a scotchbrite first then cleaned?If yes what color scotchbrite?Would that get back the original finish of the ball? Thanks for the help!!

Using acetone to clean the entire ball will most certainly make it illegal and possibly damage the coverstock.  If the ball is really dirty and extremely well-used, resurfacing and using Clean-and-Dull is probably the best shot at getting the reaction back.  If there's really no reaction, then CnD will help a lot, especially if your friend has a spinner and can really work it in.

No acetone on bowling balls. It attacks the surface components and changes the material quality. And, yes, this is illegal, too.

If you want to have the Deuce back to factory surface I's suggest wet sanding it gently with a grey 3M pad. This will result in 800-1.000 grit, depending on how much pressure you put on it. Thereafter, apply the surface cleaner to give it the final finish. the ball should be as new.
