Think I can get a deal on abralon pads
« on: January 30, 2008, 10:53:13 PM »
I found out that I can get Abralon pads through a vendor at work.  Only problem is that I would have to buy 20 at a time, which is overkill for what I need.  I figure I could put the rest of the pads on ebay and sell them for $4.50 a piece including shipping.  Looking for opinions on whether they will sell for this price so I don't get stuck with them.  I can see what they are selling for on ebay, but I haven't researched what you can get them for from other websites.
Thanks

If you buy 20 pads, supergrit has them for $3 each, not including shipping, so IMO, your $4.50 is not a super deal, but then, that's JMO.

Good Luck on your project.

I wasn't really looking at selling the whole box at one time.  That would be a lot cheaper to ship.  I guess I was looking to sell them one at a time to someone like myself that really only needs one, but that increases my shipping costs.

Shipping will be your biggest thing. Ship Priority Mail, $4.60, Parcel Post takes forever, so as I say, you may well be in good shape, but the cost plus shipping to someone else would be the biggest hang-up, IMO.

I buy by the box, use as I need but then I have a shop so I use more than the "average joe", I thought about selling them as well, but shipping will run the cost/per up so you might get back your investment or if you charged enough to make a few cents each then the cost to someone else would be more than some can get them from an online store.

JMO, again, Good Luck in whatever you decide.

Speciality Tools has Abralon Pads for $2.90 each if you buy 20 and $3 each for single pads.

Supergrit has Abralon Pads for $3 each if you buy 20 and.....$3.25 each if you buy 5 and....$3.50 each for single pads.

I would suggest checking out the shipping costs of each place and look at the total cost of each.

I can get them for $2.89 each if I buy a box of twenty.  Delivery is free because they are shipping stuff to my work anyway.  Looks like I might be better off getting some guys that I bowl with to pitch in and split up a box.

Do you have to buy 20 of the same grit, or can you specify?

It has to be 20 of the same grit, or get 2 each of every grit they offer.
