Title: Best spinner for me
Post by: blockhater on April 23, 2003, 02:24:47 AM
I'm looking for the best all round spinner in a number of areas. I need to be able to use it for surface adjustments (both polishing and dulling) and for full resurfaces, as well as routine cleaning. I have heard a few things about the reliability of some spinners, so I was hoping some people could point me in the right direction.

Things to also consider: I'm from the UK, so we have 240V mains and I'm likely to need a transformer unless there are spinner made for the UK (I have no idea). Also I am on quite a tight budget, so I'm looking for the best all round deal to give me performance and 'bang for your buck'.

I know I am asking for blood from a stone, and I fully appreciate that I can't get everything I am asking for. However if people could point out a few good options with strengths and weaknesses then I would be extremely greatful.

Kind thanks in anticipation.

I had some fun building mine as baiki said. If you want to give it a go let me know and I'll give you a few tips.
However if you want to buy one you can get one from Petes pro shop in Peterbrough
http://www.petesproshop.co.uk/vertex_personal_ball_spinner.htm
Heres the contact for it. Hope it helps you out. My way was definatly more fun and cheaper though.

Message me your email address and I'll send you pictures of mine.

Should have access to scrap parts and tools to make it worthwhile.

As for buying a market model, some people here on this site will steer you away from the Donkee models due to excessive vibration.  I don't have any experience with the Donkee models myself, since I'm using an older HyTek spinner.  The Vertex model has seemed to get some favorable reviews on this site.  If you set your "preferences" back for a couple of months, you will find quite a bit of older posts regarding some spinners here on Coverstock Preparation.

I will say that it is nice to have your own spinner.  You can save quite a bit of money versus taking your ball to the Pro Shop, and in time the spinner can pay for itself.  Plus, with easy access to change the coverstock texture, you can play around more to see if you find a texture that you like better.

Robert,

I went from a Donkee to a Vertex, for just the reason 10 in the Pit stated. I have been happy with my Vertex and it was less expensive but seems better built.
Here is their website:
http://www.vertexmold.com/contact.htm
AND THE GOOD NEWS IS
they say the have 240 V model that can be shipped overseas without your needing a transformer. You'll have to check with them for shipping, of course.

I have a 1/2 horse vertex and I love it.  If you can get a vertex I would recomend that you do.

I don't really play cards and I am not 79, but it fits together somehow.
