best time to prepare your ball?
« on: March 17, 2008, 02:46:42 AM »
So if I'm correct, the best time to clean your ball is right after you're done bowling right?  But what about additional coverstock prep?  In regards to polish/abrasive polishes, not including resurfacing or anything like that. I use a basic cleaner after league, but I also use Track's Clean N Dull (which I know is a little redundant) or Liquid Sandpaper just to dull up my ball before play.

So my question to you all is, would it be better to apply something like that right after cleaning my ball after league play, or is it better to apply right before starting on a fresh pair?

I would use the Clean & Dull immediately after bowling for the best chance of oil removal.  It doesn't make any difference with the Liquid Sandpaper.  --  JohnP

Use lanemasters cleaner right after bowling. Best ball cleaner out there on the market.

I also use ball cleaner or a wet wipe after each training session before I bag my balls. If I have to do some surface prep, I skip this step but sand for new polish the ball at home to the appropriate base grit, give it a hot water bucket bath (for general maintenance), wipe it dry and then work on the surface with a spinner, either for the final sanded surface or with some polish or compound. No real resurfacing, just minor cosmetic surgery to keep the surface and track area in top condition.
