I was just wondering where the best place to buy a ball spinner, doesnt have to be the best spinner just one that will work and some basic supplies for it.

Thanks for the Info. Also its been a while since I have been in bowling and it may be a dumb question but do the polishes still come with a number? I mean I used to use 1200, 1500 2000, 5000 etc now all I see is superhook or secret sauce and others like that.

polishes from the bigger brand names have set numbers, 1000, 1200, 1500, 2000, 3500. they have all those polishes because basically they want to make more money.

Snake Oil, the polish we manufacture is a multi-finish type polish, out of the bottle it can achieve a 1500 grit polish with light pressure, with medium pressure you can get 2000/2500 grit polish and with heavy pressure and a little bit more time you can achieve a 3500 grit on a spinner. We also make a product called Resurrection it's more of a ball resurfacer which sands the ball to an 800 grit matte out of box finish. With our polishes you don't have to clutter your shelf with 10+ polishes/finishes when our two will put the box condition/performance back on any ball particle, particle pearl, reactive, reactive pearl.

DIsregard this completely. Those numbers repesent only POTENTIAL finishes. Can you imagine you'll get that grit level, no matter how much polish you apply or how much pressure you use or for how long the ball is on the spinner? Will every ball finish the same whether it starts with 220 grit or 4000 grit?
The answer to both questions is "obviously no".

Most current polishes will not have a "number" on them. The only ones I recall that do right now are Storm's Reacta Shine (1500 grit) and Xtra Shine (3500 grit). However that doesn't stop Xtra Shine from being a great polish.

I don't think this is precisely true. It's probably that each succeeding higher numbered polish (LIke old Columbia's Degree polish, and Storm's Step polishes) have finer and finer levels of abrasive in them. And to use each properly, you should start with a finer sanded base ball.

This is a very reasonable approach. I do this with Storm's Xtra SHine. I have just received my Valentino samples and will be trying them soon.

I ilike this idea personally there are/were some other liquids that will also change the surface but not polish the ball, but to to different grit levels. Ebonite had one, called Matte finish, now discontinued, that set a ball to 1200 grit. Track has/had one called Clean and Smooth that finished a ball to 1500 grit. Lanemasters has one that finishes a ball to the 1200 - 1500 grit range.

Buddies also sells the Vertex spinners.

Vertex seems the most reasonably priced backed by a very strong waranty (good even under pro shop use) and excellent customer service. I've had mine for 6 years or so.

If you have lots of money you can buy a commercial one from Innovative for $600 - $750 or so. Vertex costs around $200 - 225.

I just bought the Vertex 1/2 HP spinner. Its my first spinner and I'm just now experimenting with sanding, resurfacing, and the like. So far I'm very impressed. I bought mine directly from www.vertexmold.com and with shipping it was a few bucks cheaper than Buddies. I also bought some accessories to go along with it:

www.supergrit.com has the best prices for abralon pads and scotch brite pads. You can buy the same exact pads on this site way cheaper than what you see on Buddies.

www.stormchasers.net had the cheapest prices on their own cleaners and polishes. I chose Storm cause I purchased a new 2-ball Storm arsenal (details in my profile). I've never stayed with one brand until now, so I decided to ride the brand loyal bandwagon for a while.

I also bought a cheapo Rubbermaid plastic tub big enough to keep everything in, which doubles as a splashguard. This along with a pack of 3 white terry cloth towels cost $12 at Walmart.

I feel like I have everything I need to work on my equipment. Overall I'm very happy with my purchase. With summer leagues starting next week, the spinner will be paying for itself in no time.

Is the Vertex spinner 1 or 2 speed?

It's a one speed, 475 RPM. It's not necessary to have two speeds. The speed is just right to sand and polish.
