hot water bath?

What is the procedure used to rejuvinate a ball via a hot water bath/bucket? Do you put tape over the holes to prevent water from getting in? Thanks.

You can tape the holes up if you want.  I've tried taping them but water still leaked in anyways.

I use Magic Carpet so I don't want to get any water in the thumb.
The water won't hurt anything otherwise.
What I do is place the ball in a bucket and position it to where the gripping holes are tilted off to the side and my track area is just below them. By doing it this way I can place the ball in the bucket and then fill it with hot soapy water until the water is just below the gripping holes. The rest of the ball doesn't matter since you are not tracking in that area any way.
