What grit is this?

I've heard before that the green scotchbrite is 600 grit, but what is the blue? On the green..it says heavy duty scour pads and on the blue..it says multi-purpose scour pads. What grit is the blue? Here is a picture if it helps anyone.

I believe they are about 1000, BUT from experience with them, and MANY other people have said, you can't get them to scratch the surface of a ball. It just doesn't work.

1000 is close to what I was thinking, but why don't they work? I'm getting ready to use my new spinner for the first time.

Do they not change the surface at all? Or do they just not do the 1000 grit surface like supposed?

I heard that you just have to press really hard for them to actually change the grit of the ball.

yea for some reason, they just dont scratch the surface of the ball well. You really gotta push hard. I've heard some people say they were using a spinner, and pushing so hard they stopped the spinner and still didn't change the surface.

my pro shop operator has used many types of scotch-brite pads over the years on my bowling balls and has had no trouble getting them to work. he's used anywhere from maroon( appx. 320 grit )to white( appx. 1,200 grit ). he says the key is to use plenty of water and new pads.

I use SB pads, for final touch-ups. I got 15 balls out of one pad (maroon) and am on 26 or 27 on the white pad, but you don't press as hard with white, it's a fine or very fine, so I don't use it as much.

Keeping the pad wet is a MUST !! I don't like sandpaper, I'm an Abralon pad person. I get a lot more use out of them than sandpaper, but they are more expensive than sandpaper. I like the CAB attaching to it where sandpaper I have to fold over the CAB and I waste some that way.
