Hook Again vs. Resurfacing
« on: November 04, 2003, 09:33:39 PM »
Ok, I got a v2 Particle thats been extremely well used in its day and this thing does not move one inch.  As far as resurfacing particle equipment goes would it bring back some of the hook that was loss by resurfacing it and giving it a very deep cleaning or is this Hook Again solution the way to go.

I work at a shop and I can do my resurfacing for free but I will most likely have to pay for the hook again treatment.  I don't plan on making this ball a part of my arsenal but it would be nice to see it cover more than 3 boards on a fresh shot.

So how much hook would actually be restored by a resurfacing and a deep cleaning rather than the Hook again stuff?

Well the hook again works on all Ebonite products 100%. So id say if you resurface it, then put it in the chamber, id say about 95% will be restorded.

I have an eliminator that has gotten its share of games.  I figured resurfacing it would get me back the reaction i loved, but it didn't turn out as expected.  It helped some, but still doesn't get as good of a reaction as it had before.  I didn't put it in the hook again because i wound up getting another one, but i've heard good things so far about it.

I used the Hook Again system on my Cherry Bomb and am very happy with the results (thanks Doug S.).  It seemed to restore the movement that it had when new.

Ebonite suggests that you resurface the ball and then do the Hook Again treatment.. If you haven't done both that may explain partly why it doesn't help.. I was at a trade show over the summer where an Ebonite rep. spoke about the Bowlers' Map software and Hook Again, that's where I got my info. from.

Particle balls occasionally need their covers refreshed with some type of resurfacing regardless of whatever 'bleeding' technique you decide to use. The pores can be fresh, but if the particles are worn down, reaction is going to continue to suffer.

My doubles partner declared his Super Carbide Bomb 'dead' a few weeks ago. He first bleed the cover using controlled oven heat in the Rejuvenator (Brunswick/Lane#1 recommended), but there was little improvement. I then took the ball home and did a light resurface with a 35 micron trizac pad, and the ball has come back to life.

Consider cleaning, bleeding and resurfacing together as a complete solution.
