At home.
Use gloves to protect your hands.
Place ball in/on ball cup or similar support.
Get 3 sheets of Bounty (strong) paper towel.
Put quarter sized dollop of C & D on one towel folded in quarters.
Rub on 1/2 of the ball over and over, keeping that side of the ball wet with C&D; use dime sized dollops if the paper towel gets dry.
Use light to medium pressure.
Do this for at least 45 - 60 seconds.
Wipe off C&D with wet/damp 2nd paper towel.
Dry ball with 3rd dry paper towel.
Repeat on other half of the ball.

Do you do the same with the LMB Blue cleaner?

No, I use it at the lanes immediately after bowling. I spray it on and wipe it off with a micro-fiber towel. C&D is a different animal; theoretically it is supposed to pull a slight amount of oil from just under the surface. I can neither conform nor deny that process. I do know that I use these processes regularly and I have yet to extract an oil from any of my balls using the NuBall oven. It has extracted much oil from teammates' neglected balls.

I use C&D on a ball after 9-15 games to do a deep cleaning. While both LMB and C&D are equally effective on surface oil, C&D is more of deep cleaner; I believe it is stronger and I prefer to wear protective gear while using it. I use LMB after every use; it is alcohol-based and while I try to insure I don't get it on my hands, I don't worry a lot if I do. My micro-fiber towels are pretty thick and I don't soak them in LMB; there is  no need to do that.

I basically do the same thing that charlest does and like him I have yet to extract any oil from any of my balls using my ball sweater.

One thing I like doing with Clean'N Dull, is putting it on when I'm refinishing/resurfacing a ball on the spinner.

Doing it just after I start with my coarsest grit, That way the pores are really open and it really penetrates deeper IMO.

Then finish off the refinishing after that.

Charlest, do you ever use C&D with a spinner?

I do a variation of that. I use it as the lubricant on my roughest pad instead of water. It seems like a way to help extract a little extra bit of oil, if there is some. It, being a gel, doesn't fly off the spinning ball as easily.

I used to do that, but no longer. I see only a disadvantage in not staying in contact with the surface as much or over as long a period of time. Also the spinning helps evaporate the C&D faster. I feel that keeping the liquid in contact with the surface for a longer period of time helps it do its job better. Of course, I have no proof;it just seems like the right thing to do.

Additionally, although I have never seen it dull a polished ball when used on a spinner, theoretically, C&D contains some abrasive. It must be a minuscule amount, but I still don't want it to change the ball's surface. When spinning  ball, we all tend to put too much pressure on the ball. So, I'd rather do it by hand.

I've used Clean'N Dull on a spinner for years, starting way back when I got my first little spinner the Ip4.

The only real "con" is if you really lean on it and use too much pressure applying it.

This can cause it to form a glaze on the ball, especially if your applicator is dirty with old built up Clean'N Dull on it.

This happened a lot with users that used the lambs wool applicator attached to a cab block and didn't clean it regularly. (You can see the lambs wool applicator being used in the old innovative "Finishing Touches" video where they demo the A.P.P. products (Clean'N Dull))

As for the possible abrasives in Clean'N Dull if there are any. It is so fine that any possible change it makes to a cover, Is going to be so minute that it will be meaningless.

We all have different methods, but one thing is the same. I don't use CnD with a spinner. It make dull balls haze up, glaze up, or put a tiny shine into the ball. And I don't use a lot of pressure.

I use the blue paper towels and apply CnD and cover half the ball. Then I let it sit for several seconds, 20-30 seconds to break down belt marks and such. Then reapply a smaller amount of CnD to the ball and with a damp cloth, I wipe down the ball.

I do this every dozen or so games. I use Remedy Rx every other frame during leagues.

We all have different methods, ....

We really shouldn't. I took my procedure from the bottle that was originally marketed by the people who designed Clean N' Dull, APP, Advanced Polishing products. They sold the marketing rights to Track way back when.

Even the bottles from the original Track, called "TrackMagic Clean N' Dull", give the procedure I wrote above. They add,
"When applied with a ball spinner, you can increase tackiness on resin balls and draw oil and residue from all types of balls easier. ...
After bowling on extremely oily lanes, when applying Clean n Dull to ball, let product remain on ball for 1 minute to draw even more oil from the ball.

Here's a Old Demo by Palmer Fallgren of what was then APP's Reaction Clean N Dull Bowling Ball Cleaner . (from the "Finishing Touches" video)

The APP products were some of the best.

I started using CnD when track took over. I do remember the instructions, but I think it was a video demo (not the one above), or BR years ago where the guy said to let it sit for 30 seconds before wiping it of with a damp towel. Also applying it with a scotch brite. :D

I never used the scotch brite and used CnD every 9 games max! Back then, houses put a lot more conditioner on the lanes and belt marks really left a mark.

I use paper towels because you don't want even old C&D touching vinyl or other plastics or your skin. You throw away the paper towels. There are warning labels on the bottle.
