Cleaning Cobalt Bomb
« on: August 23, 2006, 04:02:34 PM »
I purchased a Cobalt Bomb back in May and I have about 100 games on it. I love the way it reacts in the begining but then it sort dies down (barely travels 3 boards). I clean the ball with clean and dull and a cloth after each session. Once awhile I'll throw it into the polish machine and put some shine on it. I'm wondering how can I get the same kind of reaction back on the ball like it used to have and what's the proper way to clean and maintain a pearl ball? Please help and thank you.

I have to agree with TheCrownedPrince about the Lustre King. Unless the owner of the center guarantees that it has polish and not wax, I would never use one.

With that polsihed pearl "fusion" I would not stick it in any polish machine unless the cover started to get dull.

And even Clean and Dull won't restore a wax clogged ball IF that is, indeed, the problem.

I'd have it re-surfaced to try to clean out the top layer of resin, have it baked in a Rejuvenator, then have the surface restored to its original Lane#1 specs.

I knew i shouldn't listen to my pro shop guy. I asked him for what to do bcuz my ball was getting dull and track marks were showing. He told me to throw it into the Luster King. I'll try to bring it to him to get it resurface. Thanks guys, i'll keep u all updated.

hey all, just want to give you guys an update on my cobalt bomb. I took it to another shop to bake and resurface the ball. It came out back to the OOB condition. I scored 238, 256 and 212 for the first 3 games with the cobalt bomb. I'll stay away from the Lustre King from now on, thanks guys.

When it starts to get dull, say, after 20 - 40 games, depending on the lane surface and your revs and all that, use Brunswick's High Gloss polish and a little elbow grease (or a spinner if you have access to one). I emphasize a  "Light Touch-up". Try to remember what it looks like now and restore it to that level.

After 60 - 100 games (or it seems to be losing reaction), another session in the Rejuvenator would be a good thing.
