Proper use on Trizact and others on Lane 1 balls

This is a direct quote/reply from a Lane 1 email reply to me concerning coverstock work with Trizact on particle balls; I figured that I would share the knowledge ...

"I received clarification from Brunswick. Only the diamond cutters from Haas type resurfacers cut the particles. You'll then need to wetsand the ball with the scotchbrite pads, until a slurry develops, cleaning out the broken particles. This is for resurfacing procedures.
 
For dulling the surface, you can use a 400 grit sand or a heavy scotchbrite or the 35 micron Trizact Pad.
 
Our understanding from Brunswick was a bit different, as we thought the Trizact pads cut the particles. They're now saying that the particles keep the Trizact pads clean when sanding the ball.

Thanks, I guess, but it's still not clear to me. Will using scotchbrite pads work OK on the particle balls, or will it cut the resin & leave the particles exposed?

I believe the last Brunswick-made ball that requires the use of Trizact to affect the particles embeddded in the resin base was the Golden Nugget. The new particle balls, according to Brunswick, can be affected by whatever sanding medium you want to use.

The only honest answer I can give you is  - I don't know. I suspect they are softer, but what difference does it make.

If Brunswick says to use regular means to adjust their new particles, I trust them. I do not know that their tech people here have ever lied to us. Brunswick balls are and have always been excellent; if I were ever to stick with one brand, I know I could not go wrong with Brunswick. (Darn, that almost sounded like an endorsement; I better be careful. )

the brunswick folks i talked to( tom tomaras and rick benoit )said use whatever was handy----scotch-brite, trizact, or sandpaper.

This is correct. I've posted this in the past after talking to Tom Tomaras.
