hot water bath
« on: May 28, 2007, 07:27:07 PM »
I gave my ball a bath a few time now and had great results.

Now my friends wanted to try it out.
One person did it and it was great. I also gave his ball a deep clean after and the ball hooked better than before

Now this is the weird one. Another friend tried this and he said that his ball got heavier, and it did. I wasn't there so i don't know what he did.
But i cleaned the ball before he bowled (alcohol/simple green mixture) and he had a great first game (278). The ball looked fine and was hitting good.

But it was heavier? anyone had results like this or why this could happen

LMK, thanks

Hey! I made it all the way to the gutter. Shouldn't I get like 20 points or something?

A friend in a local pro shop soaked his EPX T1 in hot water and weighed it thereafter (since he was curiosu about the ball's absorption rate of oil when it was all the hype).

If I remeber correctly, the ball came out of the bath heavier than before, having "sucked" up almost 3 ounces of water!

The weight got lost after a mild tour in the oven, but the result was  big surprise. I am not sure if this result can be applied to less porous balls, too, but even if the ball sucks and holds water it should be even less and vaporize over time, easier than lane conditioner.

I second that... for this reason I suggest to give it more bathes and shorter times and let the ball dry at least 6-12 if not 24 hours before bowling with it.

Of course you can always put it in a warm place like the car or the central heating room ...

I have written an instruction as doc file... is there a place to put it online on this site or make it a sticky post?
