OOB on C-300 Tremor Ceramicore???
« on: October 27, 2008, 01:26:55 PM »
Can anyone tell me what the OOB surface condition was on the Columbia Tremor Ceramicore? I'm thinking it was something like 1000 grit with a light polish. Does anyone have an old catalogue sheet or other info. that can help me get this ball back to the original out-of-box finish?
Thanks in advance.

On edit - I have the regular Tremor ... not the Pearl. BowlingBallReviews.com says this ball is a matte finish, but I remember that it was somewhat shiny when new ...

Most of Columbias balls back then were 600 grit sandpaper followed by a low to mid grade polish.  The equivalent to that right now would be either 600 grit sandpaper/1000 abralon pad followed by Brunswick Rough Buff.  I think if you went with a factory finish whether Brunswicks or Ebonites, it would be too shiny.  Go with what I mentioned above and you will be pretty close.

I still have my old purple tremor as well. Great on wood lanes. I have kept my at either 1000grit or 1500grit. Yes it was polished OOB as opposed to matte finish. I'm not sure if they are considering a matte finish the same as polished, but I typically associate matte being more on dull side. I use magic shine for the polish. Good luck!
