Title: Personal Ball Spinners - Thoughts & Opinions?
Post by: jmc1972 on September 28, 2017, 08:09:55 PM
I am getting ready to purchase a ball spinner to do everything from cleanings to complete resurfacing. I've checked out Innovative, Jayhawk, Donkee and Vertex. Though I'd love to get the Jawhawk it is out of my price range.

I am about 90% sure I'll pick up a Vertex. Would the 1/3HP have sufficient torque or should I spend a couple bucks more for the 1/2HP.

If anyone has has success or failure with these I would very much like to hear your opinion.

I got the 1/2 hp vertex almost 5 years ago and it's still going great. It was around $230 shipped through them and I got 6 months no interest with paypal.  I've used several different spinners…. This gave me everything I needed with plenty of power not to bog down liked the lesser HP models might.

For personal use, get 1/3 hp, that’s sufficient enough. Mines over 10 yrs old.

1/3 HP should suffice for all home needs. If you were going to use it in a pro shop, they guarantee it, even then, but there I'd use the 1/2 HP version. I didn't know how much use I'd get at the time; so when I bought mine 15 years ago, I bought the 1/2 hp version. Good investment - better than buying 5 bowling balls for the price of 1.

I've used a Vertex 1/3 HP for about 7 years. Never overheats nor "bogs" down, even with good pressure.

The best bowling investment(other than coaching) I have made.

I got a 1/2 instead of the 1/3, just wanted the higher hp so that the motor doesn't have to work as hard and is just a "few dollars more".  Love my Innovative!

I also bought Innovative's 1/2 hp unit. I have owned it for 3 years and have been very satisfied with it. A good investment.

+1 as have also.  Only complaint is attachment clamps for flower pot don't come already attached to unit.  Hardly use flower pot any more as have learned how to sand with just enough simple green mix to not throw little white spots around.

Hilarious! You too?? I have a 1/3HP  Donkee. It's enough for my needs, but I used to always marvel at just how widespread those white dots used to make it all around the room!  ;D

I love my vertex 1/2  model, had it 8+ years and still going strong, not a single issue.

I built mine from scratch junk parts. Had to buy a dog dish to hold the ball but every thing else came out of the scrap pile. Been using it since 2000 no problems. It does have a 1/2 hp motor though because it was the smallest in the boneyard.
