what cleaner...
« on: December 28, 2003, 02:39:43 AM »
my track freak out just isn't finishing on the backend like it used to and needs a good cleaning.  Does anyone know what polish/cleaner would get the ball back to where it was?  i was thinking of either using track's magic shine or storm's mega bite.  If anyone has used either, what was your experience and did it help?

Brickguy, these are not assumptions that I have made about Neo Tac Hook-It, for I am a user (purchase it by the quart), and very satisfied by the product. It does indeed tend to "eat or melt" finger inserts, in the same manner as acetone. It also has "eaten" items in bowlers equipment bags when accidently spilled and left "unattended". I the past there were posts regarding just this fact. Due to that, I keep mine tightly sealed, and then in a zip-loc bag.

I am a firm believer in Neo-Tac products, besides Hook-It the Re-New It is also a product I use regularly. After showing people how well these products work, I have many others using it as well. First I have them "clean" their equipment after bowling until they can no longer get any dirt/oil off the ball. Then I take a clean towel and use Hook-It. They are amazed at how much more dirt/oil is removed from a supposedly clean ball.

But I do stand by my statement that it is very strong, and best not left on a ball for an extended period of time.

IEQ,
Thanks for taking the time to call Neo-Tac. I appreciate it. I honestly do. As I have already explained, I couldn't call them because I have a hearing handicap and cannot talk on the phone. Other wise I would have called them at the beginning of all of this conversation and saved all of us a lot of time and typing. As I have previously said, I don't really care one way or the other as I don't use the stuff and don't intend to use it.

Brickguy,
Urethane is still a plastic. Resin balls are based off urethane balls and are still "plastic", actually they are a much more complex polymer, but still a plastic. Same with particle balls, as they are resin's with some particles.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Plastic is plastic and Urethane is a form of plastic. No one argued that the Hook-It could be safely used on these balls. As for resisin's and particle balls, I can't debate with you whether they are a plastic or not a plastic as I simply don't know. I do know however and you do to, that since Hook-It eats plastic and vinyl, how can a person use this Hook-It on these balls with out harming them????....There are no cautions on the bottle that says that it will eat the balls.

MTFD24 in his latest post has said almost exactly the same thing that Mr. Buzzsaw UK has said in terms of cleaning the ball, putting the Hook-It on, surprised at how much more dirt and oil still comes out of the ball, and etc. The only difference is that MTFD 24 has said that he wouldn't leave it on too long, (he didn't say to get it off immediately) whereas I have repeated over and over again here about leaving it on overnight, that I said "I 'THINK' MR. BUZZSAW UK SAID OVERNITE." I never said that is exactly what he said, I said "I THINK."......so to define and interpet what I said, that means maybe so, maybe not.

IEQ, we all look forward to the reports from Neo-Tac. Hopefully, if that Hook-It eats balls if left on too long, they better put this on the labels of their bottles or else they could end up buying a lot of bowling balls (thousands) as there is nothing on the bottle label that cautions about the length of time it can be left on the ball.

I went down to my "Ball Shop" in he basement, and grabbed the quart bottle of Hook-It. Here are some quotes from the label.

"Shake well before using. Apply to a clean paper towel. Using a circular motion, rub on one half the bowling ball. Continue to rub until all the product is removed from the ball. If a film remains on the ball surface continue to rub until film is removed. Repeat on the remaining half of the ball. Keep the product from contact with vinyl inserts. Discard paper towels after use. DO NOT store paper towels on or in your bowling equipment."

Pretty much says NOT to leave on your equipment for any length of time. Also the part about leaving paper towels in or on your equipment, they are talking about ones that were USED and have the product on them. That is a mild disclaimer so as to any damage done by the powerful product.

I am a firm believer of the Neo-Tac products. They have proven their superiority to not only myself, but others that tried them after using their own.

Last week before I saw this post I went and took some Hook it and put it just on my inserts.  I left it on all night.

Then while waiting I bathed my son in it!  18 months, didn't even use any water.
Yowsa did he let out a screatch!  Then we rolled him across the floor and he seemed to veer a little bit to the right.

I then put some towels soaked in hook it on my ball and left them on for a couple of days.

Took the balls straight to the alley and threw them with paper towels on them.
They seemed to definetily hook earlier and skid less with the towels on them.
I thought possible the extra hook came from the now much stickier inserts and the extra lift I was getting, but no even when the paper towels finally came off it seemed like the ball was hooking more.  When the lane manager came running down screaming something about towels on the lane I explained I was just testing a new product and if he piped down he may get in an upcoming ad.

He did ask me to help clean up the pp towels.  I showed him how much the balls hooked and he was partly impressed.  When I threw my son down the lane he had to agree that he did seem to really hook early and veer a little to the right.
(Son barely got past the arrows).  I explained we hadn't rinsed him with water for two days and wondered if this was approved by ABC rules.

Anyway this stuff really does seem to grab earlier and get just about everything to veer harder towards the pocket.

I approve.  I'm going to now go read the directions and see if everything I'm doing is OK by the Rule book, and recommended by the company.  Do you think so?

REgards,

Luckylefty
PS it was a fun trip for my son too, as he really likes to be rolled sideways alot.  Seemed to be happy to get a water bath though!
PPS, Mama, is getting ready to soak her feet, wonder what a little hook it in het foot bath will do?!  Maybe a little surprise for her!  This stuff can be used just about everywhere!
