Title: polish application tools
Post by: JohnN on November 06, 2017, 07:01:14 PM
When using a spinner what do you use to apply compound or polish ? I have a sanding block that I use with sanding pads and was wondering what works with the block to polish ? Foam pads ? Sheepskin ? Other ?

When Abralon or Siaair pads wear out, the reverse side makes very good polish applicators. I think the worn abrasive side may stick to the Velcro but your hand makes fine cup to grip the spongy pad.

Terry cloth face cloths and cheap micro fiber towels also make good applicators. I suppose you could cut them into circles to fit the sanding block; I never tried it. I use my hand about 99% of the time.

I simply use the two blue polish pads I got from the auto section at Walmart (have a sponge in middle of them but sealed up by microfiber I think it is).  Works great especially if I wet them first.

Something like this - https://www.walmart.com/ip/10pcs-Polish-Foam-Sponge-Car-Applicator-Cleaning-Microfiber-Waxing-Pad-Detailing/680973527

(edit:  oops sorry missed part about working with sanding block)

Right now I use the back side of sanding pads. Just wondering what might work with the block. Haven't tried using the the 2 together yet.
