Hey all,..........just an FYI......

While at Target last night w/ MrsRevs I stumbled across a 2 pack of green scotch brite (600), and a 3 pack of Blue!!! (800)!!  Each for $2.24 if I remember correctly........anyhow.........if you need Scotch brites....Target has them.....and isn't Blue fairly hard to come by ?!

I'm the opposite of all you guys. My one proshop has the gray and maroon ones, which i use the grey bc its 800 grit. I had a maroon one but gave it to my mom bc it is just to much.

At places like home depot etc i have only found green, no blue ones.

Right now i am only using grey, i just push softer if i don't want a lot.

What grit is green?

Are you sure? I thought grey was 800 and blue is 1000.

Yeah blue is 1000 and grey 800. Here is the list:

3M Scotch Brite Nylon Pads:
7445 - White pad, called Light Duty Cleansing - (1000) 1200-1500 grit
7448 - Light Grey, called Ultra Fine Hand - (600-800) 800 grit.
6448 - Green (?), called Light Duty Hand Pad - (600) 600 grit
7447 - Maroon pad, called General Purpose Hand - (320-400) 320 grit
6444 - Brown pad, called Extra Duty Hand - (280-320) 240 grit

7440 - Tan pad, called Heavy Duty Hand Pad - (120-150) 60(?)
Green Scotch Brite is available EVERYWHERE. It's 600 grit.
Blue Scotch-Brite is considered to be about 1000 grit.
(The value inside the parentheses is directly from 3M.)

legend4life95 is correct:

Light Grey = 800 grit
Blue = 1000 grit

If you want the 800 grit grey (generally hard to find), check out:

www.wildoctopus.com

For most applications, the 400 grit burgundy, 600 grit green, and 800 grit grey is all you'll need.

Break out the Tan Pad and lets burn up the shot! Might have to pick up some blue for the shop.

Guys,

"Oh, no, not again!"

The availability of all these products is very regional (North, Southwest, West,Midwest, central, Pacific, whatever). You may find them, you may not. Some say they're in Auto Stores (Auto-ZOne, Pep Boys, etc.), in the wholesale stores (Costco, BJ, Sam's et al), in supermarkets.

Don't go crazy if you can't find them.
