Is the following correct?

And...where is the best place to purchase ??

Thanks....

3M Scotch Brite:

7445 - White pad, called Light Duty Cleansing - (1000) 1200-1500 grit
7448 - Light Grey, called Ultra Fine Hand - (600-800) 1000 grit.
6448 - Green (?), called Light Duty Hand Pad - (600) 600 grit
7447 - Maroon pad, called General Purpose Hand - (320-400) 320 grit
6444 - Brown pad, called Extra Duty Hand - (280-320) 240 grit
7446 - Dark Grey pad, called Blending Pad (180-220) 150 grit
7440 - Tan pad, called Heavy Duty Hand Pad - (120-150) 60(?)
Green Scotch Brite is available EVERYWHERE. It's 600 grit.
Blue Scotch-Brite is considered to be about 800 grit.
(The value inside the parentheses is directly from 3M.)

I found the first four on the above list at a local auto parts store in the painting/finishing area.

Jeff, those values are close enough for government work.

You can get the green pads just about anywhere, even supermarkets.  You can also get maroon, green, blue and white scrub sponges at the supermarket, although I find that the sponge side limits the amount of pressure you can effectively apply to the ball.

The other grit pads you can find at auto supply stores, and most likely, Home Depot as well.

seadrive,

Have you tried using the ones with the sponge wet or just thoroughly damp?
I find that makes them conform to the ball's curved surface much better. Most often the sponge is not super-thick and forms a nice cushion for working.

goldfish_iota -- Go to the wildoctopusbowling.com site I posted earlier.  On the home page there is a list of Top Sellers on the right hand side, near the top.  The #1 item is Scotch Brite pads.  Click on that item and it will take you to a page where you can order the maroon, green, grey and white pads.  The Jamestown Distributors site does have some pads, but it is very hard to find them and they sell only in box of ten quantities.  --  JohnP

What grit are the dark green and red?  I don't see those listed on MI 2 AZ's post.

I think there is only one green, so dark green  = green. 600 grit

maroon is a dark red; again, never saw 2 shades of red. 320 grit.
