I am wondering wether to purchase a ball spinner or
the hook again system. I am looking for something that
will last a while as far as my bowling equipment
and that new ball affect. I do understand that brand new
bowling balls have ultimate hook when new. Please help!

How about both . . Hook Again definitely works, I was pretty skeptical, but I was pleasantly surprised. I had 150-200 games on my Detonator (usually sanded it every 25-35), and it just was being too bland on the backends, so I threw it in there, and now it's back to just like new. A spinner would be a good idea because when combined with scotch brite pads, you'll be able to do a much more even, thorough job as well as keep the coverstock fresh.

Hook Again did nothign for my Icon 2. I have not tryed it on other balls yet.

If you can only get one, get the spinner. A bit more money up front, but it won't cost you $15 every time you use it, won't limit you to one ball at a time, and won't take a ball out of your arsenal for 24 hours at a time.

Actually the hook again will last for 24 hours. woo hoo.. so much better..

I may have missed the point of this post. Hook again and a ball spinner serves different purposes.

If the ball is dead, resurfacing isn't going to restore reaction.

If the ball is tracked up, hook again isn't going to repair the surface.

Bob, when you use oil dri do you find that the balls are shiney when you take them out? I find that no matter what ball I put in be it a polished resin or dull particle when I take it out it takes on a shinier appearence.
I love them like that, but I just wondered if you had simmilar occurances.

mine appears to be shiney----shinier than when i gave them to my pro shop. my pro shop man insists this product really works. i used them on my brunswick swamp monster and inferno. i'll give a complete update after league tonight.

i tried both the swamp monster and the inferno during shadow balls and they both seemed to hook more than they have been lately----were both balls brought back to "brand new" ? if i had to make an educated opinion i would say no----they weren't brought back to "brand new" but a lot of their hook was restored. more testing on my part is needed-----i'll report in later.........

I have a question for you, If a ball is dead then why
is it dead? Is it because the plasticizers or molecules
in the track area move or change because of heat from
friction, or simply the track area is worn from friction
and loaded with lane oil. In my experience with new bowling
balls, my theory is the natural oils used to produce coverstocks
especially resin covers, and eurathane covers, gradually dry
out over a period of time causing the surface to measure at
a higher durometer (softness of the coverstock). I am not
familiar with the HOOK-IT system and am wondering does this
soften the shell of the ball to bring it back again?

i bowled in my monday night mens league tonight and checked to see the results of soaking my brunswick inferno in ebonites hook again. after two league sessions i would still say MOST( maybe 90% )of the balls original hooking power has been restored. more info at a later date........
