Sanding Grits or whatever..I have a question..

I was wondering what grits there were. i know there is 4000, 2000, 1000, and 400 but whats inbetween 400 and 1000?? I'm wanting to sand down a LevRG thats at 1000 abralon now but don't want to take it to 400 so I was wondering what my options were inbetween.

I know the scotch brite pads or whatnot is like 800 or something but the proshop doesn't use those so as far as sand paper or abralon, whats my options?

theres 500 grit abralon, could also take it to lower grit a put some shine on it

Abralon pads come in 180, 360, 500, 1000,2000 & 4000 grits. Depends on what you want to end up with as where you should start.

I guess im going to hit it with 500. We are bowling the Shark this week and was wanting to try putting some surface on it. It worked decent last time at 1000 but it didn't get into a roll as much as i liked. My total shock and awe at 400 was working really well but I had to start swinging it a little too much. I like playing straight up ten which is where I started then I had to move my break point and line over to the left then I kept pushing the ball out to far leaving ugly things so i want to try the levrg with more surface and see how it does. I have it with a heavy rolling layout so I think it would be ideal with more surface.

well id keep an abralon around, throw a ball before ya go n change the surface. pattern doesnt mean everything. Theres oil volume and lane surface to worry about also,

Sandpaper grits that I have found in my area are:

220, 320, 400, 500, 800, 1000, and 1500.

Abralon comes 360, 500, 1000
Scotch Brite pads come in 320, 600, 800, 1000
Wet/dry silicon carbide sandpaper comes in 320, 400, 600, 800, 1000

I had a local pro shop sand my ball down to 600, although im not sure what he used to do it.

I've seen this topic covered many times before so...

Abralon pads are available as stated in 180,360,500,1000,2000 & 4000

Scotch Brite pads are available in 400 (burgundy) 600 (green) 800 (grey) 1000 (blue) and 1500 (white). There are other grits/colors but are very hard to find. You should be able to find the green or blue at any bigger grocery store in the dishwashing or housecleaning section. The rest you should find at any auto parts store in the autobody/paint section. Here in my area I get them at KMart and NAPA.
