ebo's grit polish
« on: September 19, 2011, 09:25:37 AM »
Is the Delayed Reaction from Ebo the same formula as the DR with the Track label?

is it the same purple gritty stuff?

Thanks

Supposed to be the same. All the Track compounds that Ebonite is now marketing are supposed to be the same formulations, AFAIK, to the Track ones.

I have and still use some Track DR and it is light blue in color and it is not gritty.

Thank you Sir for the reply......

I assumed it was gritty because of the seperation of the two materials/compunds in the clear bottle it came in.

not 100% sure if this polish also has abrasive in it. That could be the grit, but pretty sure it has some silicone in it to clog the pores and make the cover absorb less oil.

While other polishes have had something precipitate out, my bottles of DR have not had any ... yet.  Some have been sitting there for a couple of years...
Whaddya know? Found a bottle of Powerhouse DR sitting among the unopened bottles. Opened it up and found the same color compound and it too had no precipitate. You must have or bought one that's bene sitting for a long, long time.

It has been sitting in my wall locker (bowling locker, the family calls it) in the garage for a pretty long time. Maybe that's why it separated. But, after applying this to an old ball that was also sitting in storage for awhile, it made this ball move really hard once the ball reached the friction. Almost snappy.... Maybe this polish is like wine, the longer it sits, the better it is? lol

Just on general prinicples, I would stick a long screwdriver into the bottom of that bottle and stir up well. Then shake the living daylights out of it for a long time, just to make sure everythign is well mixed up.

Actually, I wouldn't take a chance on using such an old chemical on a new ball. All chemicals break down over time.  For some, once one element or compound precipitates out of solution, the chemical is often never the same thing as it started out to be.
