I know that this has been talked about 1,000,003 times... but what is the difference between "3M Finesse-It II" vs. "Black Magic Plus" vs. "Regular Black Magic"

As far as which one gets through drier heads and drier midlanes better and which one gives a ball the most backend drive/snap pottential?

And can it be used on Reactive as well as Particle balls?

I've been using Ebonite's EXTENDER Polish, but it only gets a ball to shine up only so far... so I'm wanting a good polish that will shine the ball up so much that it looks like a mirror image, but without sacrificing the backend drive/snap potential.

I've heard that HEAVY doses/applications of Black Magic and Finesse-It II may actually KILL the backend reaction... and I'm wanting to know if that's true or not, and if it is true then what kind of polish WON'T kill the backend reaction???

I've also heard that Storm's Xtra-Shine, which supposedly gives a 3500 grit finish, is good for getting a high gloss. But I wonder if it can be used on reactive AND particle? And will it kill the backend or enhance it? And would it change the grit level on the ball... or leave the grit finish on the ball untouched like they say Black Magic does?

Well, the particle ball that I'm wanting to HEAVILY polish is a Tornado TPS.

This ball is great for the times when you're on Medium/Drier lanes but still want to use a particle ball, and that's why I'm wanting to polish the ball up so high. And I'm also wanting to polish up my Reactive Blue/Violet Tornado to like 3500-5000 grit for when the lanes are a little bit too dry for what the Tornado TPS can handle, or when the TPS is hooking a bit too early in the drier heads.

Ric,

Most polishes can be used on both particles and resin balls. Some particle polishes have extra grit for particles that are harder than other particles.

Either the Xtra Shine or the Finesse-It II should take the TPS to very nice polish with a spinner and some pressure (around 3000 grit). It should also polish up the Tornado reactive. This will allow both balls to get thru the heads more cleanly and *SHOULD* increase the back-end by a degree or two.

Ebonite makes a polish that takes a ball to a higher gloss than its standard factory polish; it's called, POWERHOUSE Extender Polish. See

On a personal preferences note, the Tornado pearl reactive has far too much backend for most people on drier conditions. The drier conditions provide all the backend needed for most balls. Some factors in a bowler's style (high track, speed, etc) may ameliorate this strong backend, but, for most people, it is a liability on dry lanes.

I believe Black Magic Plus is a combination of Black Magic polish and cleaner.
