UFO Extender on spare ball?
« on: June 19, 2009, 04:28:18 AM »
Anyone try it?

Does it contain a slip agent?

TIA,

I will disagree with you on this one 100%. If you read the rules, you must PROVE the bowler had prior knowledge. That would be the perfect time to bring it to him, in front of as many as you cloud. That way, should he use it again, you have him. You told him, he knew, therefore, he's out. If you read most of those rules, the bowler had to have PRIOR knowledge, only way to get him to stop is to GIVE him prior knowledge.

Sorry, but it also sounds as if...since it wasn't going to effect you ( out of the pot ) you didn't care. Rules are rules. If you allow him or anyone to break them, why go by them at all ? Shoot, throw 3 balls in a frame, why not ? Granted, I'm a very picky one for the rules, they are there for a reason. Use them, winning a pot or not.

When I see the guy before his first Coors Light I'll tell him, under the prior circumstances I won't. Not worth getting into a confrontation over a $9 bottle of whatever.

Kevin -- I've looked at the list again (link below), and I can't agree with what you're saying.  Here's a direct quote from the introduction to the lists:

"Here is a list of approved and not approved ball cleaners and polishes. For a product to be approved at anytime, the product must not soften the ball surface or leave a residue. If a product is not found on the list below, consider it to be NOT APPROVED either before, after, or during certified competition."

How can the USBC be more clear?  --  JohnP

John,

While I understand your point, I'd love to know how they can approve such "liquids" as
- Beans Secret Sauce,
- Neo-Tac's Liquid Sandpaper, and
- Storm's Reacta Shine
among other such liquids for use "ANYTIME"????
Every one of them is a fine product, BUT they all have abrasives in them, ESPECIALLY Liquid Sandpaper!!

If every one of them doesn't change the surface of a ball DRASTICALLY, I'll eat your hat and mine.

I'd ask the USBC, but I know they'd talk out of both side of their mouth at the same time like any politician.

charlest -- I would never dare try to explain any of USBC's decisions!  I also want to reiterate that I am not in any way knocking the quality of any of the Valentino products.  I want them to be USBC legal so I can use them in my shop.  --  JohnP

I found a bottle of this in my chemical closet...

http://www.rainx.com/Products/Windshield_Treatment/Original.aspx

I've used it before on POLYESTER" SPARE BALLS.

If you put it on your REACTIVE BOWLING BALLS, they are as good as POLYESTER.

Since I saw this thread and own a bottle of UFO I applied it to my spare ball last night. Upon application I really layed into it burning it in. I will throw it tonight and let you know if I see a difference. I took the polish that was on before and just used the UFO. The ball by the way is a viz-a-ball...

Same here, I have a small tube of the UFO and after reading the post, I pulled it out and polished my spare ball, which is a 900 Global BAM.  Didn't get a chance to throw it yet, but if feels really smooth and slippery and came out pretty shiny.

This is a helpful topic.  Please post how the UFO worked on your plastic spare balls, and if you saw a noticeable improvement or not.  My wife, who throws at about 10-11 mph, unfortunately still gets some turn out of her spare ball most of the time, which makes the 10 pin a pretty dicey shot for her.  If UFO or wax will help, then I'll try it on her ball.

It pains me to publicly display my ignorance, but WTF is UFO Extender? I have "Googled" it and looked for ball polish on web sites but the only "Extender" is Powerhouse Extender.

Have I missed something? I do have a Storm Ice Storm that wrinkles a bit on clean back ends. Therefore, a slippery polish sounds good.

How did the result work for everyone who tired UFO?

No one in the office uses a spare ball besides me, and my spare ball is drilled with negative 1oz. of top weight. Not the best test ball.
