Title: Valentino Franken Tape
Post by: Brickguy221 on July 15, 2008, 03:34:13 PM
I recently ordered some Resurrection....Snake Oil....and Franken Tape. I previously posted a topic of how I applied the Resurrection and Snake Oil to my AMF Heist which brought it back to a NIB reaction. At the time, I hadn't tried the Franken Tape yet.

Today, I tried the Franken Tape for the first time and guys, this tape is for real and as good as advertised. It is not overly slick, but is a "just right slick". I have a problem with my thumb swelling and shrinking at times. Today when league started, I had to put 2 pieces of white tape in the front of my thumb hole. A few frames later, my thumb was on the verge of almost too tight and hanging up. I was trying to decide whether to remove a piece of white tape from the front of thumb hole or not. Then I remembered the Franken tape, so I left the 2 pieces of white tape as is and put a piece of Franken Tape in the back of my thumb hole, threw one ball and decided to add a second piece and it was perfect. This made me a tighter thumb hole, yet I was able to get my thumb out of the thumb hole smoother without the slightest sign of hanging up.

Thanks for the complements! Glad your a true believer now! Franken-Tape is just one of those odd products that provides just the right amount of everything for a great release.

That Frankentape is good stuff.  I use a piece or two on the front side (facing grip center) of my thumb with a piece or two of the white tape in the back to close the gap (unless my thumb is too big).  I thought it was going to lack surface texture, but for some reason I still feel it enough that I'm quite comfortable with it.  That, and when I removed it there WAS NO RESIDUAL JUNK!! That made me so happy!

I use them on top of my white tapes.

I need white tapes to make my thumbhole fit, but I don't like it that the are much rougher then my switch-grip sleave. It changes the feeling at release to much.

Normal black tape didn't hold onto the textured white ones, Frankentape does.

They are slick, but feel secure.

If you use them for your thumb, then the round end should be on top. For the fingers you turn them around.

I don't know why I would make my fingergrips slicker or smoother.

For the thumb they are great.
