Valentino's question - Resurrection vs polishing
« on: March 15, 2009, 05:51:49 AM »
Just starting to experiment with polishing and Valentino's pads and Resurrection and trying to get a feel for comparative results. Never had to polish a ball before since I'm a low rev lefty, but now that I have a spinner, it's time to learn.

Would like answers to the following please...

What would be the comparison between using Resurrection on a ball, which I beleive will give me an approximate 800 matte result, and sanding with an 800 pad then applying Snake Oil?

Is "800" in Resurrection finish US/Cami or Fepa like the pad?

If I use a 400 base then apply Snake Oil, how would it compare to 800 base then Snake Oil?

Many thanks in advance

You'll see very similar results. Resurrection is a mild resurfacer which has silica sanding beads which take of grime, beltmarks, cleans out pores and leaves a 800 sheen finish. It takes less than 1/64th of an inch off so it is not as severe as sanding, more like uniformly scratching the surface. An 8oz. bottle can yield about 80+- applications ($.20 per use), and if you dedicate a towel to Resurrection 120 isn't out of the picture because the sanding beads stay in the towel.

Resurrection is 800 grit - US/CAMI scale

400grit vs. 800grit, The ball keeps the 400, and 800 grit characteristics it just adds length. The 400 grit will hook sooner. I never recommend anything lower than 600 girt with Snake Oil.
