Vise Cleaner vs Hook-it
« on: December 10, 2022, 05:27:04 PM »
From what I'm seeing, Hook-it (my current go-to) has gone up from 14.95 to 19.95. That at least opens the door to consideration of other options. I also have the old reliable Clean and Dull, but I find it leaves a film, and really looking for something a bit better for using after every set. CTD is great, but dang, it's expensive.
Looking for input on Lane Ghost, Vise Cleaner or others.
Thanks in advance

I'm still using Clean n Dull only at home for periodic deep cleans.  Never a problem with leftover film if you rinse/wipe it off well with a wet paper towel when done.

For regular cleaning after sets, I've settled on Ultimate Black Magic Rejuvenator after comparing it to TAC UP, and am very satisfied with it.  Both clean well (the UBM just a bit better) and leave a tacky feeling surface, but the TAC UP has a slightly sweet odor that sometimes gives me a slight headache, and the scent remains on your hands until washed off well with soap 1-2 times.  To save a bit on the slightly higher cost, I buy the 32oz bottle of Ultimate Black Magic and use it to refill my original 8oz bottle.

I use Motiv Amplify cleaner after every set.  I buy it by the gallon and then just refill a small spray bottle as needed.  At around $45 per gallon it's a great deal.

I also use Clean n Dull once in a while, and always wipe the ball down after with a damp towel to get rid of the film it leaves.  I don't think the current formulation of Clean n Dull is quite as good as the original, but it still seems to do an ok job.

I also have some Hook It, but rarely use it because it just seems way too strong for general cleaning.  Even the PSO warned us about it and said to be really careful with it as he had complaints from people that it was staining clothes and damaging table surfaces, etc.

Thanks for the feedback. Never considered Hook-it 'too' strong, and I can't say I've ever had a staining problem though. Thinking I'll try Black Magic because my Tac Up is about gone too. So maybe BM in general and CnD for deep cleaning. I do still like Tac Up and appreciate the comparison feedback.

While I have not used Hook It, I have used the Vise cleaner a few years now and it's the best everyday cleaner I have found thus far.
