Where can I buy 220 grit or lower Scotchbrite pads?
« on: April 06, 2004, 12:37:46 PM »
Wildoctopusbowling.com has 400, 600, 800, 1200.

What websites out there has the 220 Scotchbrite pads for sale? I'm needing something that will really cut into a ball to remove the track.

I don't really want to use Sandpaper because that will wear down and kill the Particle's on a ball... So do they even make anything less than a 320 or 400 in Scotchbrite pads?

Ric,

I have seen more abrasive nylon (probably Scotch-Brite) pads in the paint section of hardware stores, but I don't know what their grit level is. They are very heavy duty and maybe as low as 150 or 100 grit. I have bought them but I only use them on rust or really heavy, really old paint.

I understand about your not wanting to dull the particles, but I still wouldn't use anything as low as 220 grit on anything unless I were doing a total re-surface on a ball that's been tracked out. Up to that point, the Burgundy, which is 320-400 grit, should suffice.

Home depot paint dept. carries them.
I also saw some thicker scotch brite stuff for use on floor polishing m/c's. Saw some white, gray, red. It's about 1 1/2 to 2" think about 30" dia. round. May work out cheaper than buying the normal pads. Around C$5.00 a piece.

Ric Clint -- I looked through the Grizzly Industrial closeout catalog on the web today and found Green Scuff-Rite® Pad 150 Grit and Maroon Scuff-Rite® Pad 280 Grit for 75 cents each (shipping charges may make small quantities quite expensive).  Note that these are not Scotchbrite pads, but appear to be a similar product from a different manufacturer.  The link to the catalog follows.  Click on abrasives & sanding then click on scuff pads.  --  JohnP
