ball polishing
« on: April 22, 2007, 01:33:00 AM »
just a curious question. i figure there is someone out here who would know. i saw a while ago a guy said you could use car polish(not wax) for a quick touch up job on your ball. my question, what exactly is the difference between a ball polish and a car polish? i am assuming it would be the ingredience that a car polish is for a harder finish such as metal where the ball polish is more for a porous finish. i was curious because i know there are some smart people out there who are very astute to these things. also, how made can it screw up the ball. i had one guy tell me about a "detailing" polish that he used. i was afraid to use it on my new stuff but he used it on his because they were about 10-15 years old. an old "wolf" "triton" and another one i never heard of. by the way, he did average about 215-225. he always loved the old stuff.

My friend who owns a body shop uses a 3m product (I think it's called Finesse) on his bowling balls. He places the ball on a home made jig and and they uses the high speed polisher and the balls look great when it's done. He's doing this for years with no problems.

The product is 3M Finesse-It II. It has worked great for me for many years. The ball never acts skittish. It's fairly expensive by the quart but you can buy a 16oz. bottle at properautocare.com for $11.95 plus shipping.
