edit: Bomb's Away Drilling EBONITE
« on: May 12, 2009, 12:00:29 AM »
I've recently ran across an OLD ebonite piece with the Bomb's Up mb position.  Can i assume this is the marked MB?  if i flip the ball 90* about the axis marked with the bomb at dead top center and mark the exact oposite side of the ball is this the traditional MB?  thanks in advance!

Have you gotten an answer yet?  If not, here is a bit of info that I remember from the "Bombs away" core.

The "Bombs away" balls were  designed to have an "ANTI" mass bias, much the same way the Visionary AMB line of balls was. They were designed to allow you to drill them strongly without drilling into the MB area and allow the core to retain its original designed shape better than traditional MB cores.

If you want to drill the ball, the easy way to do it is to draw a line 13 1/2 inches from the "Bomb" through the pin and mark that spot, then use that spot as the virtual MB.

If I understood your post correctly, yes, the virtual MB is directly on the opposite side of the ball from the "Bomb" marking on a line directly through the pin.
