Layout for 0-1" pin
« on: January 09, 2010, 08:55:00 AM »
What would be a good layout for a ball(orange warlock) with a pin distance of 0-1"?  Thanks in advance for any replies - Jon.

What's the top weight and how do you want the reaction to be?  --  JohnP

The top weight is 2.5 and would like to see a more controlled arc rather that a skid/snap.  Thanks

You could also go for a label setup: CG in palm and the pin in a 45° position to it towards your PAP. Should end up next to or slightly under the ring finger in a strong position, no balance hole. Basically good for oily shots and long patterns strong midlane read, tame back end - and old school layout.

For more pop at the breakpoint you can also put the pin under the fingers and the CG stacked. This will shift the breakpoint a bit further, but still not be a flippy ball.

The Orange Warlock has a high flaring symmetric core.  It would be helpful to know your PAP location and axis tilt, but without that info I would recommend 2 - 2/1/2 " pin to PAP with the pin in the safe zone at about finger hole height and the cg either stacked below the pin or angled back toward grip center.  You will probably need a balance hole in the finger positive quadrant near the VAL, ending static weights will determine the exact location.  --  JohnP

315 Degree layout is the way to go if you want a smooth reaction assuming it is a ball with a marked MB.

+1

You can drill it like that without the MB, I have have a Charcoal Executioner drilled up that way, and it's the best ball I have.
