315 deg drill with a 2.5 inch pin
« on: February 07, 2008, 08:01:53 PM »
Just got a ball in trade and was thinking about redrilling it with this layout.  It is a Big Shot with a 2.5inch pin, I read that it need to be a 1" pin ball, is this correct?  Any other drilling ideas?  Right now it looks to have the 0 degree drill on it with the pin over the ring slightly.  I want to redrill with something that won't leave any plugwork in my track.  The only two layouts I can think of that might work are Rico and the 315.  How about the TJ trick layout ?  Never tried any of these but would love to experiment with this ball.  Your thoughts?

You could drill with a short pin, 2" maybe, with the CG in the grip centre (or near it)

wouldn't that be a version of a rico?  I don't know much about that drilling but I thought the pin was in grip center?  Why would it have to be a 2" pin or less?  I think this ball has a 2.5 inch pin.

Isn't a 315 deg layout only applicable with a ball having a significant mass bias?  With a symmetrical cored ball, you aren't really doing anything by putting the cg above/right of your fingers (assuming righty) besides requiring a weight hole in the positive - finger quadrant...

That is what I was wondering, I don't have any idea?  I just want to try something new whit the ball but don't want to track over any of the plug work.  I think a RICO will work but am interested in others.
