Ball reaction when weight hole is plugged!
« on: October 23, 2024, 11:06:15 AM »
I'm 77 years old and roll 14lb.  I'm a bit on the low-speed and lower revs end, sort of a tweener.  An old friend is giving me an old Black Widow Pearl that he hasn't used much in years.  It had a 1" weight hole drilled in the side but was plugged a few years ago when they changed the rules.  I understand that there are probably a few variables at play here, but I'm asking for a general answer.  What difference in the way the ball reacts now that the hole is plugged compared to before it was plugged, go longer, shorter, hook more, less?   Thanks!

Probably none that you will be able to see.

Part of that depends on where the weight hole is.  If it is straight across from the center of your grip, it wont affect it much at all.  If it is down close to your thumb, then the ball will be slightly weaker overall.  But since you are already a slow speed, low revs guy, then as Milo mentioned, you may not see much difference at all.  You would really have to know what you are looking at to see much of anything.
