Advices for drilling the TPC WARRIOR
« on: August 25, 2003, 12:49:26 AM »
Wish to have some helps to make a choice in drilling a Warrior. Hi all drilling guru, I'm a bowler with 17 mph at release point, 260 RPM, 44-50° of axis and PAP is 4 1/2 and 1/2 up. I want to drill and TPC Warrior with 1-2" pin and 3 1/2 oz top for medium oil lanes. I think that the pattern #1 (pin under ring finger, 4" from my PAP, and the PSA at 90° under the thumb hole) is quite good for me but i'm afraid that I have not enough hand for this pattern. What do you all advise me ? Thanks.

Thanks King of the Mill, I'm looking at the Cats result but don't see the mesurement of tilt (all indications are in french and no word similar to tilt) but I see that my axis is not very hight on release, it's about 2-2"1/5 over the horizontal plan. For the track diameter I also don't know but I see that my track is quite low. the first track is about 2" to the thumb hole and 1" 1/2 to the finger hole. Once again thanks king of the mill, I really need the drilling pattern for this ball, I have too much doubt in my bowling why I can't trust my judgement in the choice of ways to drill. Sorry for my poor english.

Hi king of the mill, thanks for replying.
quote:
where do you want this to fit in your arsenal.... and are you using similar layouts in those balls?

Here is my arsenal :
X-factor with pin cg 4"; 3 1/2" for heavy
Trauma recovery 4 1/4"; 4 5/8" for medium +
Mojo 5"; 3 1/2" for medium +
Nino Wrath 4 1/2"; 4" medium light
Angle reactive 5 1/2" ;4 1/2" light
I want to use the Warrior to replace my Nino Wrath and want to use this ball for medium to medium light oil lanes.
quote:
my initial feeling is that a stronger layout would help you match up to heavier mediums easier.  your tilt is high in relation to your ball speed and revrate.  this equates to generating more natural length with a weaker finish (your style works well on drier, shorter patterns).  if my assumptions are correct then....

If possible, I also want to use this ball in the 5th or 6th game in tournement when the lanes are drying out and have carrydown. (Tournements in France, we almost have 8 games for qualification and if all is ok 11 games in peterson).

quote:
my first guess would be pin 4 1/2" from axis (depending on your other balls layouts) keeping the pin just under the finger holes.  place the psa locator 3 3/4" from your PAP.  drill the middle finger hole deeper to get finger weight under 1/4 oz.  balance hole small and deep (i'm guessing 3/4" bit 3 1/2" deep) on the VAL 1/2" below axis to zero side.

If you think that is ok for me, I'll go with this pattern. Sorry, can you explain me this sentence "on the VAL 1/2" below axis to zero side"

will drill for beer

Ok, I owe you some beer , can you wait till my next travel to the States ?
Thanks a bunch, Mrspare

First of all, I want to thanks king of the mill for all of his advices. After having a discussion with my driller, we are agree to drill the Warrior like the first pattern that king of the mill tell me to do. The pin is under the ring finger, finger hole is drilled a little deep etc... This morning, I'm in a tournament of this ball and some others... After the 5 first games, I put out the Warrior and what do I see, Whoahhh, the thing go quite strait through the lane and make a light turn in to the pocket. This ball is very readable. With this ball I got 223, 232 and 191 for the 3 last games, but the score don't show how great is this drilling because I lost some easy spares. Once again, thanks a lot king of the mill. You know, with people like you, bowling will become more attractive.
