Need a layout recommendation for my wife.
PAP: 5.25 .5 up
Tilt: 15*
Rotation: 60*
Ball Speed: 11 mph on down lane monitor
The issue, I believe, is her slow ball speed. Her ball gets into the roll phase too early. Only way she strikes if the ball rolls out high flush. She currently throws a pin over middle Bandit with a pin to pap of 4 5/8 and a Punch Out with a pin under bridge with a pap of 4 1/2. Both balls roll out too early.
To combat this, we drilled her a Hustle Ink weak with a pin under middle finger thinking it would help retain energy, but it rolls out even worse.
Looking at the dual angle sweet spot article has lead to analysis paralysis.
Should this be my benchmark?
“To retain Axis Rotation and Axis Tilt in SYMMETRICAL equipment, we would tend towards longer pin- pap (> 4") distances, while ASYMMETRICAL equipment we use shorter pin-pap distances (< 3"). We would also chose higher angle ratios (2:1 - 3:1) to promote a longer first transition to make the most of what Axis Rotation and Axis Tilt is available at release.â€
I would assume we would need a large drill angle regardless. Though I don’t know what the Val angle or the pin to pap.
We’re considering higher rg balls like the Burners, Hy-roads, Hypes, or Venom Shock if we don’t just redrill the Hustle Ink. She throws 14lbs so the differentials are all in the .030s and rgs of 2.52 and up with the balls I listed. Though I also read that asymmetricals retain tilt/rotation better.
Looking for any suggestions.

Have you tried polishing the ball?
Rolling out is usually due to the ball losing energy, and since the cover is what is actually in contact with the lane, I'd either polish or finish the ball with every step available grip up to around 3000-5000 (without skipping grits).

Balls are polished under 2000 abralon. Have not tried what you’re suggesting yet.

I too suffer from the slow speed syndrome due to age. I am quickly approaching the age of 70 and noticed that many times my speed dropped into the 12mph range.
I resolved that issue with a 30 x 5.25 x 0 drilling. Make sure that the pin is at least 3" higher than the finger holes. Gives extreme length with a small snap on the back.
This is NOT a continuous drilling. You won't see it arc or read the mids unless you have hand.

Not on the VAL but very close! Yes it is. Bowling in a very high friction house in Virginia, which required speed....which I don't have.....I was able to shoot 824 with this layout!
