Better Option for Playing Deep Inside Line
« on: December 16, 2011, 09:14:07 AM »
Wanting to play deeper inside and get the ball to recover, I've decided on one of three possibilities. Which of these options would be better suited:

50 x 4 3/8 x 70

or

45 x 5 1/2 x 60

or

65 x 4 3/8 x 65

Also, why do you think one of tehse would work best?

Thank you in advance for taking the time to reply.

Russell this maybe a problem with todays game and I understand your opinion, but you and your dick head attitude is also one of the main problems of the game today.

Thanks to everyone for taking the time to offer your suggestions. Based on your recommendations, I plan to drill the ball 60 x 5 1/2 x 40. This will keep the pin above the bridge (thanks mainzer) and reduce the second angle a bit (thanks Strokewiththelefthand). I know you didn't have everything you would like to make a truly educated guess and I promise not to hold any of you accountable if the results are less than stellar. I will post my results, for those of you who may be interested.

I wish you all Happy Holidays.

Interesting piece of equipment. Drilled Motiv Primal TV4 60* x 5 1/2 x 40*.  This places the pin above and right between the finger holes, with the cg slightly kicked out towards my pap. A brief review; Ball gets all of the length I wanted but not quite the amount of continuation I'd hoped for.

Game 1:

Left ten pins on last two practice shots and first frame bowling for score. Decided to reduce speed and play same line. Struck in the 2nd through the 8th. Strikes in the 7th and 8th were coming a bit high so I decided to increase speed in the 9th. Pocket 7 - 10. Moved left and slowed back down, finished with 256.

Game 2:

Stayed left with slow speed. Started with the front 9. First ball in the tenth was too slow, 7 count. Finished with 277.

Game 3:

Fought with getting the right speed and amount of side rotation to get the ball to corner. This game ended up being a mix of strikes, spares and a couple of opens on splits. I did find the right combination and struck out in the 10th for 198, giving me some hope for high scores in the third game next week.

Over all, I believe this ball will work for me, just not in the way I planned. Instead of chasing the oil deeper inside, I believe the easy length I have with this ball will allow me to stay out around the track longer. The carry was excellent all night when I hit pocket, as long as I kept the speed down and gave the ball a chance to finish.

One final thank you to everyone who offered suggestions and happy holidays to everyone at Ballreviews.
