Ouch.
« on: September 12, 2006, 08:28:22 AM »
Major ring ringer pain suddenly in second joint.  It's happening towards the end of practice and starts really pounding around frames 5-6 of the 1st game.  In the ring I have 0 and 1/4 right as my pitches.  I threw an old ball I have last night with pitches of 1/8th reverse and 3/16ths right and the pain was still there.

What would anyone suggest?  I'm not using inserts, I was thinking maybe a vacu-grip change with a soft oval insert at around 3/16ths reverse, but then would that really alleviate the pain in the second joint of the finger?

Do you tuck your pinky when you bowl?  This put a lot of stress on the ring finger.  If not, I would shorten your span a hair too.

I do tuck my pinky but I have my span shortened and adjusted to account for that.  I'm going to play around with a span/pitch change to the ring and see what happens, i just dont know how much I should go.

First, stop tucking your pinky and see what happens with the pain. You're not going to lose anything that a couple board adjustment wouldn't fix.

Yep, I had the same problem and had to move back down to 15 for a season.
