Quick stupid question
« on: May 03, 2011, 06:35:50 AM »
Hey quick simple question.  I'll delete this post after it gets answered.  But was wondering what is the MAXIMUM size a weight hole can be.  I've been looking online and can't find it for sure.  I believe its 1 1/4 inch but I don't know for sure.  Reason why I need to know is I've got a ball with a RICO drill on it and it is rolling over the finger holes.  Wanted to try to open up the weight hole a bit more to see if that may get it off the finger holes.  Thanks.

1 1/4" is correct.

If it doesn't fall down the first time, pull out the pistol and make sure it doesn't make the same mistake twice.

Above poster is correct, however if you go to the max, do not pitch the hole, otherwise it will go over 1 1/4". If your goal is to move the flare away from the fingers, I would try going deeper first, altering the core. Also, keep the statics in mind, make sure it stays legal.

Hope this helps

Agreed drill the weight hole deeper as well as you can drill the ring finger hole deeper to try and push the bow tie away from the gripping hole.

I'd also suggest not deleting the post.  This comes up from time to time and is good information to know.  What's the sense of having a forum (as opposed to a chat) if the information isn't there later for others to see?

You have a good point Strider.  I just hate cluttering up forums :p.  But I'll leave it up.  So ended up not actually needing to drill the hole any bigger or deeper (yet).  That ball had been sitting for a while, and I haven't used it in over a year.  I guess my game has changed enough over the last year that instead of constantly nailing the middle finger hole the last 4 or 5 revs, I am now just to the side of it.  It may have helped that I fixed an issue with a bad plug job in the past.  Have plugged holes in the track and every one of them had quite the bump.  So I fixed that tonight and took it back to 2k grit abralon.  Ball rolls a whole lot better now, and as I said, doesn't hit the finger holes anymore.  I'll update the post if anything changes.
