When someone hands you a drill sheet, you see the numbers for the span, and it's not marked "cut" or "true" span......what do you do?

I'm just wondering cause a friend had his ball drilled by another shop outside of town and the new driller was handed my friends drill sheet and it's 1/4 long. my friend sent me a copy of drill sheet and his old driller didn't label it cut or true.

just wondering...

Agreed, but what if you ONLY have the drill sheet, and it's not specified anywhere on the sheet? I always label my drill sheets, so as to avoid confusion.

 I would not drill until I knew what I was looking at.

 A blueprint always has precise measurements on it. Without them, it is merely a worthless piece of paper. A drill sheet without measurements and guidelines is just that. WORTHLESS!

 Give me cut-to-cut, or give me a ball that fits. Anything else is useless to me.

Thats what I thought...

Why would one drill a ball not knowing for sure....not even a phone call lol
Guy prolly sees a bowler not knowing much about drilling and suckers him for $$$. Shady

Now, my friends finger nail is pressing against inserts...

Depends on teh drill sheet. Some are marked for CTC, TTL and etc. Some only account for TTL. All in all. When in doubt ask or measure the ball again. I have seen spec sheets where the CTC is for the IT but wasnt marked nor was it clear about IT. Just had the bit size. A litte reasoning goes along way but depends. Some drillers dont want their exact items out. This way they force you to come bach ...iif your local.

Cut to cut by itself is too vague.  Is the customer using a slug, and what size?  A sleeve?  Or just maybe a drilled thumb hole?  You need full spans, then adjust for thumb treatment and grip thickness (or maybe there are a few throwbacks like me that use drilled finger holes).  --  JohnP

The only way I have ever filled out a drill sheet is with the total overall span.  Cut to cut means something different depend on whether grips are used or not...

I would never assume a drill sheet was cut to cut, unless it was specified.
