Title: Drilling a Natural
Post by: Jimmy Fields on May 08, 2011, 01:31:24 PM
My ball speed is around 17.5 rev rate around 350 to 400? a guess. The house I bowl in is very wet dry. Big puddle in the middle and the outsides dry up very quick. I carry better whenever I can stay outside longer. I'm thinking about drilling it very strong pin above the bridge cg kicked out. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.

Another option could be a (stronger/pin-out) label drill, which IMHO complements the Natural's smooth hook very well. A youth bowler in my club (with high revs and med to high ball speed) uses one with such a layout, and through the layout's good mid lane read the ball is a very nice option to play in the buffed outside area of a THS, and he uses the ball for spares with the hand taken out. I was also bale to try the ball (since the drilling matches my hand very well), and I found the ball to be very arcing and tame with this layout. Having much less revs, I'd have opened up the Natural's surface a bit more, but the ball was very controllable and great for a down-and-in shot between 1st and 2nd arrow.

drill a farly strong layout like diz said..otherwise you're drilling an expensive spare ball.

I agree...drill some flare into the ball.  It's not resin so don't drill it to "go long".  Use a strong pin like 4" to PAP and don't put a hole in it.

I'm going to drill it to try and get max flare out of it. I was just asking for opinions from other users who've thrown one. I've already been told to drill it strong I haven't seen the ball yet so i have no idea how long the pin is? But i'm going to drill it to get the most hook out of it.                         Thanks for the replies,                   Jimmy
