Hello everyone,
I've been searching online for a guid on drilling oval fingers with no grips. I've had no lucking finding anything. Everything online is about drilling oval thumbs. Can any PSO please provide instructions or a video of how to do this?

Assuming you have the proper bit size in the press, and you've started with a round hole, why not just move the jig left or right the amount needed? Or, just take your Dremel and work out the oval?
Don't make this harder than it needs to be. You're putting holes in a bowling ball not sending a man to the moon... ;)

Haha. Thanks for the quick response. That's what I was going to do. But I talked to a PSO and he said it had to do with reverse and side pitches. I just wanted toto make sure my thinking wasn't too far off lol. My intent was to go a drill bit smaller, punch 1 hole, then move jig over 1/16 and come down. Use dremel to smooth it out.

It's done just like for an oval thumb, except you only move the press one direction instead of two. Do you have digital on your press or is it just by inch measurements? 1/16 is way too far to move all at the same time, you're going to end up with ridges in the hole, if you have digital, I only go .021 per cut when I'm doing oval fingers, and if you have just the inch measurements, shoot for 1/32, the recommended max move when doing an oval hole is .033, so 1/32 would put you right under that.

For myself and my customers who do, I move the press .030 in the laterals. Use your calibers to measure the top/bottom of the fingers for the pilot hole and then the sides for the width. That way you know how many cuts youre makingThe only time it gets tricky is I have one customer who angles his holes so I had to get that angle for each finger and then move the ball in the press. The initial process takes time but once you get the feel, the process is easily repeatable.
