Pin-axis drilling------Pin-in or pin-out?

If you were going to drill a pin-axis ball, would it be better to use a pin-in ball, or a pin-out ball?

 

Would it make any difference, except for the need/placement of a weight hole?

Unless it's a very low top weight ball, I'd assume you'd want a decent pin out so the CG could be somewhat close to your grip center so you wouldn't necessarily need a monster weight hole.

  Well, I have access to both. I have a ball with a 4 1/4 pin out oz top (my pap is 4 1/8>), and a ball with pin in and 1.75oz top.

 

 I also have access to a couple of balls with 3-3.5 pins and around 3 top.

depending on the starting differential, a pin within 1/2-1" of the PAP will react the same as placing the pin in the PAP. My suggestion would be to place the pin 1/2-1" to PAP and not risk inverting the flare.

I agree with justrico, and I suggest a ball that will give you about 3/4 oz of positive side weight after drilling so you can use a balance hole to adjust the reaction if desired.  --  JohnP
