I have a 16 roto cell pearl I am happy with, the pin distance is about 1 1/2 inch. Local proshop said that was a little close but he could work with it. Like I said my performance with the ball is ok. My ? How would a greater pin distance say 3 in with same basic layout act compared to my shorter pin?

Depending on the top weight you still have a lot of options with short pins.
Usually it may limit putting the pin above the fingers or some where else because of the cg being so close and the need for a weight hole.
But really at 1.5" I wouldn't hesitate with almost any drill pattern you just have to keep the cg and the top weight in mind.
How was the ball drilled?

I wish I knew more as far as how it was drilled but in lamens terms my ring finger is almost right beside the pin at a 1 inch distance. Ball driller said my track showed I didnt put a lot of hand on the ball, dont know if that helps.Didnt know topweight as ball was bought used .

That ball has a MB pin to cg distance is virtually irrelevant. put the pin and MB where you want in regards to ball motion and weight it up to see if it needs a hole.
