I'm thinking of getting an ebonite ice for dry lanes and having it drilled with the pin above/between the fingers. First off do you think this is a bad choice for the layout? If it is a good choice what pin-out distance should I get?

btw I throw 15-16mph with 300-325RPM

If you are looking for length and a good backend reaction for light oil, then yes this would be a good choice. If you want a little less backend, i would put the pin under bridge, but doing this might not give you the recovery/length of pin above bridge.

How far is this pin placement from your pap? normally it is about 5 inches for a normal pap.

a 3 inch pin with 2.5 ounces of top should do the trick for you with the pin on/above bridge, make it a 2 inch pin if its below (so its easier to get legal). This is all depending on a normal span of course.

I think it would be very close to 5 in. from the pin to PAP. I think I will go with the first one(pin above bridge), but most websites sell with 2-3in. or 3-4 in. pins. I'm not positive, but would 2-3 be better.

I've been at the PBA tourney in Indy the last several days, watching the best in the world. FYI, Jason Couch was using the Ice quite a bit after the lanes dried out a little, but I couldn't tell how it was laid out. He lost in the round of 8. -- JohnP
